DIAMOND RING SETTINGS

While some ring settings may be more appropriate than others for specific diamond shapes, ultimately the decision comes down to personal taste.

The Channel Setting
This ring setting is used most frequently for diamond wedding rings &diamond anniversary bands. A channel setting sets the stones right next to each other with no metal separating them. The outer ridge of metal is then worked over the edges of the stones. The channel setting protects the girdle area of the diamonds better than a bead or prong setting and provides a smoother exterior surface. The Channel Set Diamond Ring is one of our most popular wedding rings and anniversary bands and is available in yellow gold, white gold, platinum or as an Eternity Ring.

The Bar Setting
The bar setting is most similar to the channel setting, as it is a circular band of diamonds that holds each stone in by a long thin bar shared between two stones. The bar ring setting combines a contemporary and classic look. The Bar Set Diamond Ring is available in 1 CTTW in yellow gold, white gold or platinum.

The Prong or Claw Setting
This ring setting consists of 4 or 6 claws that cradle the diamond, allowing the maximum amount of light to enter a stone from all angles. This makes the diamond appear larger and more brilliant, and can hold large diamonds more securely. The Shared Prong Setting is one of our most popular rings, and is available in ¼, ½ and 1 CTTW in yellow gold, white gold and platinum and as an Eternity Ring in ½, 1 and 2 CTTW.

The Bezel Setting
With a bezel ring setting, a rim holds the stone and completely surrounds the gem. Bezels can have straight edges, scalloped edges, or can be molded into any shape to accommodate the stone. The backs can be opened or closed.

The Tension Setting
A tension-set diamond is held in place by the pressure of the band's metal, which is designed to "squeeze" the stone. The result is a highly contemporary look.
